Music Department
Ozark's music department is active. Student groups include Large Choir, and the touring organizations of Royalaires, Bellaires, and Band.
Spring Music Concert
May 12
Ozark's own musical maestro, Mr. Bizama, directed the students in an inspiring concert Saturday night. Each of Ozark's musical groups had a part including the band, choir, Royalaires (touring choir), handbells, and strings. The concert marked the end of a wonderful year for the music department and its students.

Royalaires' Tour
March 27-April 3
The Royalaires would like to thank everyone who made this performance tour a beautiful reality. It was a blessed experience to be able to share God through music in all the venues we went to. From the Angola prison in Louisiana, one of the biggest maximum security prisons in the US, to the Villa Zorayda museum in St. Augustine, FL, a small replica of the Alhambra in Spain, to the several churches we visited, we saw God working at every place. We also visited very interesting and educational sites, like the Castillo de San Marcos and the oldest wooden school house, in St. Augustine, FL, or the beautiful Rosedown plantation in St. Francisville, LA.
The people we met made a big impact on us. The Southpoint Adventist Church in Jacksonville treated us like family and went way out of their way to meet all of our needs and even show us the best beaches in town. God truly shone through them. We were also able to stop at Oakwood Universtiy, where they have a long tradition of choral singing. Mr. Ferdinand, the Director there, rehearsed with the choir. It was fun and challenging to sing under his direction. Perhaps my two favorite places were the Southpoint Terrace Nursing Home and the Angola Prison. Both concerts were very emotional and touching. I truly saw God reaching out and touching hearts through the ministry of the Royalaires. At the Prison, the students were really blessed also to see the faith and peace of the people there. These men understood their need of God, totally believe in His love and therefore love Him with all their hearts. And it showed. The pastor there and the leader of the Adventist Company in the Prison both shared powerful words of encouragement to the students. “In you we have seen tonight what we should have been at your age,” the Pastor told them. “Don’t stop living for Jesus, now that you are young and you have the opportunity to make a difference.”
I pray that the seeds that were planted in the hearts through the experiences lived, the songs sung, and the people encountered, will give a lasting and eternal fruit.

Joining a Music Touring Organization
Here at Ozark we have three main music touring groups: the Royalaires, the Bellaires and the Ozark Band. We would like for you to seriously consider being part of one of them. Not only will it be just fun to work together for performances and tours, but also and more importantly you will be challenged to learn to work with others, learning to put the interests of the group ahead of yours and to work hard for a common good. Furthermore, you will have a chance to really make a difference in people's lives as you perform for them, truly changing the way they think and encouraging them. Lastly, you will worship the Lord, which is the highest and most noble goal of music or any other art. So we invite you to think about joining one of these touring groups while you are here at Ozark Adventist Academy.
Here are a few things to keep in mind as you think about joining any of these groups and as you prepare for the audition process. God bless you and see you soon.

Bellaires
The Bellaires is our hand-bell choir that tours and performs in many different venues and programs. If you are interested in joining this ensemble you might have to do a short rhythm exercise and/or play a short bell excerpt during the first week of school as a form of audition. Because there are only four octaves in the choir, we do have a limited size. So let me know right away if you are planning on being a part of this great touring group.
Royalaires
Thank you for your interest in the Ozark Royalaires, our select touring choir. In order to participate in this ensemble every student has to audition. The audition will consist of a few vocal exercises to test the range, tone, quality of your voice, and your ear perception ability. You will be asked to sing a song or an excerpt of a song that you know and are familiar with and also an excerpt of a choir song that hopefully you have never seen before to see how quickly you can learn a song both by hearing it on the piano and by looking at the notes on the page. The auditions will take place the first week of school, so if you are interested in being a Royalaire then come see me right away during registration or shortly after to set up a time when we can do your audition. Thank you, and see you soon!
Ozark Band
We are very glad you are considering joining the Ozark Band for the upcoming year. In order to be part of this ensemble, and so that we can place you in a spot that will both challenge you and allow you to succeed, every student will have to prepare the audition music listed below for their particular instrument. You can either record it and send it as an mp3 or other type of audio file with a small message to lbizama@ozarkacademy.org or you can be prepared to play it for me during the first three days of school. As you practice this short audition piece, remember to keep key signature changes in mind, be steady with your tempo and pay attention to details. Do the best you can all the way through the piece. I am looking forward to hearing you. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me.
