Music Department

Ozark Music DepartmentOzark's music department is active. Student groups include Large Choir, and the touring organizations of Royalaires, Bellaires, and Band.

Joining a Music Touring Organization

Here at Ozark we have three main music touring groups: the Royalaires, the Bellaires and the Ozark Band. We would like for you to seriously consider being part of one of them. Not only will it be just fun to work together for performances and tours, but also and more importantly you will be challenged to learn to work with others, learning to put the interests of the group ahead of yours and to work hard for a common good. Furthermore, you will have a chance to really make a difference in people's lives as you perform for them, truly changing the way they think and encouraging them. Lastly, you will worship the Lord, which is the highest and most noble goal of music or any other art. So we invite you to think about joining one of these touring groups while you are here at Ozark Adventist Academy.

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you think about joining any of these groups and as you prepare for the audition process. God bless you and see you soon.

Bellaires

The Bellaires is our hand-bell choir that tours and performs in many different venues and programs. If you are interested in joining this ensemble you might have to do a short rhythm exercise and/or play a short bell excerpt during the first week of school as a form of audition. Because there are only four octaves in the choir, we do have a limited size. So let me know right away if you are planning on being a part of this great touring group.

Royalaires

Thank you for your interest in the Ozark Royalaires, our select touring choir. In order to participate in this ensemble every student has to audition. The audition will consist of a few vocal exercises to test the range, tone, quality of your voice, and your ear perception ability. You will be asked to sing a song or an excerpt of a song that you know and are familiar with and also an excerpt of a choir song that hopefully you have never seen before to see how quickly you can learn a song both by hearing it on the piano and by looking at the notes on the page. The auditions will take place the first week of school, so if you are interested in being a Royalaire then come see me right away during registration or shortly after to set up a time when we can do your audition. Thank you, and see you soon!

Ozark Band

We are very glad you are considering joining the Ozark Band for the upcoming year. In order to be part of this ensemble, and so that we can place you in a spot that will both challenge you and allow you to succeed, every student will have to prepare the audition music listed below for their particular instrument. You can either record it and send it as an mp3 or other type of audio file with a small message to lbizama@ozarkacademy.org or you can be prepared to play it for me during the first three days of school. As you practice this short audition piece, remember to keep key signature changes in mind, be steady with your tempo and pay attention to details. Do the best you can all the way through the piece. I am looking forward to hearing you. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me.

Music Festival

Music Festival

In addition to participating in Ozark music as a student, adults and community members have many opportunities to enjoy both listening to and participating in different performances.  One of the highlights of the school year is the annual Music Festival where not only Ozark students, but elementary students and community adults may all be involved.

There is a place for you, become involved!
